wanting to apply new gel coat over old gel coat

    I only mentioned water resistance and hardness, both of which can be measured as soon as the gelcoat is cured.

    Only hardness can be measured, but it isn't accurate. Gel coat is a thin film and barcol impressors tend to penetrate the gel coat and some of the reading comes from the laminate. To get a more accurate reading you need to make a thick casting and meassure it. Adding Duratec will make the reading higher due to the resin content of the final mix being higher.
