I am looking for an 18' Lyman Islander at a good price. I have built a few boats and am looking to rehab one. I want my first rehab to be fairly simple (replace a few planks, maybe some ribs) does anyone know of a boat like this?

Just as an idea for you: My friend bought a good solid 18' Lyman a couple of years ago here (Thousand Islands, Northern NY) for $5k. Not show condition, but a nice user with a 6cyl Graymarine.
Great little boat, he just loves it, and all for the price of a used jetski! :)

    You might try here:

    or here: http://www.antiqueboat.com/boats/Lymans.asp

    or here: http://search.boattraderonline.com/search/

or just Google wood or wooden boats for sale.

You might try the paper "boat trader" type magazines, also.

I suspect that you'll have to spend a lot of time searching. The old boat classifieds seem to list mostly restored or well maintained boats in good to excellent condition.

If you are focused on Lyman, OK; but considering other brands might help your search. Cruisers, Inc., for example, made a beautiful runabout in wood at one time. Lapstrake like a Lyman, with a nice flair and clipper bow.

    Good luck in your search!
