The manual says the timing mark is on the oil pump/filter base. There seem to be two marks. Anyone has a clear photo or diagram?
    Thanks

Maybe this is the manual you already have:

PDF Volvo Penta MB10A - Manual - Instruction Book - Feb. 1974 See attachment at the bottom of next post.

Bottom page 17 says: - (is PDF page 10, right bottom corner)

‘‘ On the oil pump housing there is a notch and on the flywheel timing marks, see Fig. 17 ’’

Page 18 (is PDF page 11, left side) has a vague picture.

    Good luck !

Zoom in on the PDF handbook picture reveals the timing marks as a notch below the oil filter, and as 0° - 5° - 10° - 15° - 20° timing notches on the flywheel.

But I can imagine many of these oldies have these marks covered with several layers of paint...

Thanks a lot. The engine I am trying to time, has layers of paint and dirt. Also, it had a ridge (probably a casting mark) to the right of that v-groove.
