volvo 290/454 mercruiser

    Hi all, I have a volvo 290 outdrive and a 454 mercruiser does this have a gimble bearing or does it have a bearing on each side of the transom and if that is the case the engin has to come out as well correct? also I cant find any info on the 290 on the net any links would be helpful

    check out marineparts.com for information on the 290 outdrive. they have the volvo parts diagrams for that model there.

    The bearings are held with lockrings. The engine has to come out. You need to disconnect the bellhousing.
