v8 super boat hull improvements

i take it you guys don't use water ballast then? Fuel tank fixed or moveable? I am not a designer or builder but I am planning to widen my spray rails slightly to reduce porpoise and chine walk. Is that an option. Make some out of wood and glue them on?
