Are you saying for example I wet out 3 unwaxed wet layers of roven it will not bond without mat? Wouldnt mat have a resin rich layer to between coats? Im not disagreeing just wondering.

Roving has some fibers that will be near the substrate, but will also have sizable areas where the resin fills a large gap.

Mat has randomly placed short fibers, they will follow the surface and fill the voids between the substrate and roving adding strength.

Saying the bond won't be good is sort of misleading, the resin will bond the same no matter what type of glass is used, it’s the resin rich layer that fails.

This is a good example of a bad example of a stringer inside a hull .
    Whats wrong ??
1- the corner was never coved !!
2- there is no csm matt under the woven roving !!
3- theres no csm over the top of the woven roving .
4 -theres a sad lack of resin !!! its dry !! very dry !!!!!
5- should never use woven roving in the first place !!!
50% of the 800 grams of glass is doing zillch !! the other 50% of strands are just there for the ride !!! so much for being light weight !! .
