Universal Displacement/Length formula

    Here is a simple formula I came up with a few years ago to calculate the Dislacement /Length ratio of a boat that is not locked to any one measurement standard. It will work with feet, inches, meters, centemeters, and even cubits. I did this to assist in model calculations so I could scale up and down with greater ease. so here goes.

    (28.57 * Displacement In Cubic Units)
    (0.10 * Waterline In Linear Units)cubed

    Linear Units are whatever standard you want to use, be it inches, feet, meters ect.

    Cubic Units are Linear Units Cubed. This means that if you are measuring the waterline in, say, inches, then the Displacement has to be measured in Cubic inches.

    This way, I can make a model in inches then predict the actual Displacement/Length ratio of the full sized boat even if the full sized boat is designed in meters.
