Vidéo from Edmond de Rothchild the impressive leader. They maintain a high rythm that the followers cannot contest presently : SVR Lazartigue do very well for a just launched boat, Banque Populaire had to stop so Kevin could dive in and remove a bunch of seaweed caught in the daggerboard. Sodebo unfortunately had to slow and finally made a 2 hour stop in front of Madeira to repair its starboard foil after a big shock with a floating object. But now back in the race at full speed but 500 NM behind.
But nothing definitive, the doldrums crossing can change the ranking.

I'm not sure if it is the repair or the different weather systems but Sodebo is lagging further behind now.Gitana is doing what seems to be a perfect job and has been for few days. They should make the finish easily by Monday if nothing goes wrong. The fifties are staying quite close as well.

Crossing the doldrums by the Ultims was more difficult for SVR Lazartigue, which lost its second place to Banque Populaire. Now they are in a close reach/quasi upwind run towards the south mark (Trinidade and Martim Vaz) at an average 28-29 Knots. Edmond de Rothchild is still a solid leader : on average for 10 days since the race start, she has had an average extra speed of 1.3 knots than the others, now more than 300 NM over Banque Populaire second and more than 400 over SVR Lazartigue and 600 over Actual. Although these 3 are quite fast for very new boats (SVR, Banque Pop) or very new team on the boat (Actual / Yves Le Blevec and Anthony Marchand) : they seems all in progression and confidence with their sailing machine. So the second place should be disputed by Banque Pop and SVR with Actual as outsider. Sodebo unfortunately, since its stop for a foil repair, is very far behind, its chance to stick to the followers fleet is low.

That go fast also for Banque Pop (here the video at 40-41 Knots) and for SVR -Lazartigue on this reaching run by optimal conditions, all 3 with Edmond de Rothschild are doing a ~ 800NM/day :

Unexpected uncertainty for the final of this race, because Edmond de Rothshild seems stuck in an area of light winds (average 4h 12,8 knots, a relative stuck of course, but it is low for an Ultim) while, located further south, Banque Pop and SVR continue to advance at good speed (average 4 h : 25,6 and 32,7 knots respectively) , so Banque Pop is now at only 132 NM behind Edmond and still 537 NM to run. Sodebo go fast also with a north route and can contest the fourth place of Actual. The 3 first Ocean fifties (ex Multi 50) Primonial, Koesio and Leyton go well also, at 20+ knots and still ahead of Edmond and could arrived first to Martinique.

Unless something dramatic happens,I fully expect a fifty to be first to arrive in a few hours.I suspect it will be followed by an Ultim tomorrow and an IMOCA 60 the following day.
