I would like to discuss my idea about two parts folding mast. I found only some Sunreef yacht example of this sollution. Nothing else..
First Why:
It is intended for larger folding trimarans. Storing in marina or dry land. Folded trimaran has not much stability. It is better to put the mast down. If the mast will overhang the hull for 4 m+ it somehow reduces the sense of folding trimaran.
Example. Trimaran 11m of length and 15 m long mast.
My idea is to create pivot joint in the mast over the lower spreader.
When lowering the mast first someone has to climb about 4 meters on the mast, unlock the pivot joint and create stable base for rotating the upper part of the mast (red T poles and ropes). It should solve the side and lowering forces.
Then the process is simmilar to folding mast on Farrier trimarans. The upper part of mast is folded on roller on stern. Then the bottom part of the mast is lovered using violett rope and hands later.
Raising the mast could be little bit tricky in the beggining of the process but later it is just reverse process of lowering the mast.
I think, this could work in theory.
But I´m not too much experienced in building masts. I would like to hear someones opinion about creating pivot joint in the mast. I mean some reinforced pivot joint with screws etc.
