Tunnel/Cat hull power boat design for newbie?

20K-25k is the ball park budget, will build own trailer. Want to build myself a boat alongside my son for the experience and that i will get exactly what i want if i get it right. Yes can go and buy as i have done before.....do not wish to go down this track again. Thanks for the input. D
