Hey everyone, I am new to boat building and trying to figure our how to estimate build cost on a fiberlgass hull for a drift boat or river dorry. Similar to hyde drift boats. Can I get an accurate (specifically to fiberglass and resin only) based off of laminated weight or any other method for that matter??

    DRD,

As a very rough number, take the weight of the boat and divide it in half. Price that weight in resin, and the other half in glass, then double these two numbers.

Study plans of the boat you intend to build should have a material list. Square foot numbers if given of the boat can be used for priceing out glass and resin. Convert your sq ft to yards to figuar the glass and use the weight of the glass for the resin. Remember things like paint, tools, wood for forms , fit out items , ect. ect. Rick

figure out the absolute maximum you can afford to spend. Then triple it!

And, speaking from experience, tell your wife you are building bookshelves.
