The USA is a republic. But this should not dissuade citizens from voting. Think about a mob who finds a messenger, an opinion maker, even yes an entertainer but primarily a blogging patriot who recognizes that the boat designing TP52 committee doesn't have its ducks in a row. (oh sorry about the duck dodge last night, I was stuck in Olympia waiting for a jump. By the time I got to lake union there wasn't enough wind to inspire. Looked like a great party was forming nonetheless and I did appreciate the award, which hottie brought home for me.)

Mob rule means that more productive members of a group are voted off the island by those who have not risen to a level they might have wanted. We do not all grow up to be the men we might want to be. So for example, a truth speaker, such as myself. who is candid about the way things are with TP52s is likely to be voted off. Some say that happened to me on Sailing Anarchy. If so it happened long after I stopped posting there.

The best example of mob rule and the corruption it creates, is not the TP52 designers and owners, though that is a great one. It rather is Enron, whoes management implemented a 360 degree evaluation policy where employees rated each other and the bottom 10 percent lost their jobs. This same policy was being implemented at Microsoft prior to the Enron house of cards coming down. What happens in that kind of a system is employees bribing each other and agreeing to rate the honest, seeing, individuals poorly, so they will be kicked out of the organization. A mob - mobster - culture of corruption is the result. It is sometimes called an owner society or owner driver in the sailing world.

We in the USA are desperate to eliminate that kind of "democracy". As a final check and balance - which goes beyond notions of a Republic - we unlike those in Valincia Spain can own guns.

Well speak up then. My perception is that only barristers can speak in your country. Lets be real clear of my intentions. I would much rather chat boat design and compare the relative merits of water ballasted vessels or even sensible designs that recognize value in ballast that does more than hang like a testicle from a vessel we all prefer to call a she. The vessels of the great age of sail all used forms of movable ballast. If not water or oil in barrels then tortuous or rock. The best designs minimized the need for crew. Eventually iron jennies (motors) were used for ballast. It was all quite sensible until fools started in to make sailing the sport of Juan Carlos. I believe the man was limited by birth from what he might have been had he been born as you and I. He married well of course, an Olympic sailing champion. I note she has never been reported as setting foot on a TP52.

This is awfully confusing. We have SA calling the TP52 the premier big boat, and Frank calling them a complete ripoff and a farce. Maybe if Frank would cite some facts and figures (as opposed to wild theories and incomprehensible associations) he might earn a little credibility. But perhaps that has been suggested already...

Frank, try starting with this picture. What do we see here that would indicate this is the start of anything other than a premier keel-boat race?

Does anyone really disagree with the premise? The premise is that TP52s are day sailers not even in the same league as a Costa Mesa Build. Costa Mesa brought the world Columbias, Cals, and the Macgregors. Every last one of them true ocean sailboats.

Sailing became an elitist sport, shortly after power vessels were used for fishing and cargo carrying. That happened well before even Juan Carlos was born. How come J.C. is know you favorite culprit, and not those fellows in the SSSS? Could it be you are positive J.C. won't read your posts, and hence not reply back?

I do I do I do believe, and I am not a cowardly lion. I agree with talk show hosts who recognize that the US is already in a quiet civil war that threatens the nation with dis-union. The issue really is the same faced by Lincoln. It was called in his time an issue of states rights until all could recognize it was really an issue of property owner's rights and the main property of concern was slaves. It is the same today.

It is about property rights and the issue of concern is property in the form of shares in multi-national corporations who's executives in the name of fiduciary duty send men with hearts of darkness like Abramoff to corrupt otherwise honest government officials into tax breaks benefiting shareholders. The end result is bridges that fail because the revenue to keep the infrastructure has not been collected. It is an easy thing to understand. Share holders care not about the law of any country. They do not benefit from infrastructure unless they live where the infrastructure is maintained.

Some multi-national arrangement has been made similar to arrangements outside the sport which ignore the rules on paper for rules made by the connected - and you should think connected like a mobster and al Quaida. If we who sail on small vessels were the only ones to see that would be one thing. The minute men blogging patriots are also high on this drug.

The end result is bridges that fail because the revenue to keep the infrastructure has not been collected. It is an easy thing to understand.

Road and bridge construction/maintenance is paid for by fuel taxes. Those accounts had surpluses for many years but they were misappropriated to uses other than roads and bridges. The more fuel we use, the more this revenue is collected.
