For exploring the Florida coast, which is more practical, a whaler or a rib?

A Whaler of the same size will have better fuel economy and will be more durable.

Thank you Gonzo. My uncle thought that a RIB would be more stable with the flotation up higher and not in the hull. Any truth to that?

You'd have to compare two specified boats to each other, RIB to me is a thing for divers or rescue, where a relatively soft hull is friendlier to people in the water, not really a boat for general use.
