From June the 30th to July the 3rd, 2011, there will take place the X Gathering of Galician Traditional Boats, organized by the Galician Federation of Traditional Boats Association (FGCMF), for which I'm a member of its Board. The FGCMF is a member of the European Maritime Heritage.

Here the link to the web site (in Spanish): http://www.carril2011.es/X-Encontro-de-Embarcacions-Tradicionais-de-Galicia/gal/

We are expecting around 150 boats from all around Galicia, as well as from the Basque country, Catalonia, Portugal and France

On behalf of the Federation I want to kindly invite everybody to Join us in Carril for the event. Not only traditional boats will be on display and use, but also a lot of activities on land. In the link down here you can find a short video of the last "Encontro" (Gathering) in Muros, 2009.

    See you in Carril! :)

Well, I recognize I have been very lazy updating this page.

The Carril gathering has already taken place and it was a great success.

    Here a couple of videos:

Note: Someone knows why I am not able to insert the videos here with the YOUTUBE option? I have done it several times in the past, but now it doesn't work....

Sorry about that. To get youtube videos to appear inline in a post now, only insert the actual video ID and not the full URL in the youtube tag.
Thanks for posting the new videos!

    OK, here more short videos:

And here images from the fleet of "Botes de Carril", local racing dinghies evolved from the working boats and actively raced by the members of the "Rompetimóns" Association.

    (Rompetimóns = rudderbreakers)

Images from Carril, the close Cortegada island and more racing of the "Botes de Carril", rowing and sailing. Enjoy.
