An old complainer with still the same illness.

Read your own choice of the quote and tell us all where exactly did I EVER write "americans in THIS THREAD"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Contrary to your incurable ignorance I am AMERICAN too. So I would never write such a self-shooting thing.

You need to understand that AMERICA is CONTINENT. Your country is called united states of America.

The difference, for those new to this forum, has been excaping you ever since you joined some years ago.

The other comments you make are self-gratifying and a waste of time.

I would echo your comment back at you masrapido.
Your biting hatred for the United States and fellow Americans is so strong that it becomes nauseating.

How ridiculous of you to make such desperate comments when a careful reading of any of my posts reveals CLEARLY that have never refused to admit that Chileans have themselves to blame.

But, in your despair, you seem to be unable to grasp what I write.

    Childlish.

My numbers are from a respectful source. A concept of which you wouldn't have a clue, as we can see.

I even did you a favour by giving you a lesson about internet search and found a link to a neutral foreign newspaper that reported about 9 800 NEWLY CONFIRMED victims of pinochet's (yes CHILEAN, take note!!!!!!) dictatorship.

So with your number, which you have pulled out of your sorry arse we are already on 12 800 CONFIRMED VICTIMS OF A CHILEAN DICTATOR MURDERED BY CHILEANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

See, I have no problem with accepting the truth.

YOU, on the other hand... You are so delusional, all you can come up with is "it's not me, it's you".

The healing will only start when you recognise and say it out loud. us have a problem.

Until then, feel free to continue your rants as much as you want. Ignorance is obviously something you revel in.

Just remember that by every word you say, you prove me right. If you had even a slightest clue what a demorcacy is, you would know that it is based on a concept known as "difference of opinion".

That means that we do not have to agree, but we must respect each other.

Your immediate response on my opinion is rising to personal remarks and rudeness distinctively typical to ignorants and self-appointed guardians of the "truth".

The "truth" being whatever ideology used/required to brainwash stupid the recipient of that ideology.

The did a jolly good job with you.

I don't know how it is in Spanish, but in English, "American" always refers to a citizen of the United States of America. You would not be called an "American" but a "South American". In English, there are several region names that share the root "America":

    North America (a continent)
    South America (a continent)
    Central America (an isthmus)
The Americas (a pair of continents and some islands)
    America (a country)

In English, no one ever refers to "America" while meaning the pair of continents.

Imp, so? Did I reflect that "hatred" on anyone PERSONALLY? No.

I can understand how you can feel the facts to seem the hatred. That is the problem usanians will have to come to terms with. They need to understand that they were never the good guys. The history is full of murdered nations that make stalin look like a beginner.

And contrary to what you and others may think, I have quite a few friends among the usanians, even in this forum.

Some people I have utmost respect here are self-confessed right wing conservatives, yet are above the childlish "you hate me" crap.

The facts are the facts. If you had a look at even one link I posted, you would see that they came from cia, usa government etc.

Only the truth hurts. You can go on and think that I "hate" usa or you can give yourself an opportunity and read some original documents published by cia us archives etc, which I use to support my arguments.

See, if cia lies , then I lie too. But if they don't, and surely usanians believe everything cia says, then everyone who think I "hate" usa need their heads examined.

    It's that simple.

Not only that, but in all English speaking countries, the same labels apply. Ask someone from Australia, South Africa, the UK... It's universally accepted.

You better answer my question instead of spilling more of your legendary ignorance.

There is NO such COUNTRY called AMERICA and you are NOT AMERICA any more than I am. Get that into your brainwashed skull.

Now, back to your unfounded and intentionally confusing accusation:

Read your own choice of the quote and tell us all where exactly did I EVER write "americans in THIS THREAD"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's the only thing you should address now.

It is universally imposed by usanians.

    Let us remember the facts.

America is the name of the CONTINENT, and it was given to it by Spaniards. Since they landed FIRST on Caribeean islands, then went on to Mexico and SOUTH, they did not even KNOW of northern part of the continent, although it is conceivable that they would be aware it existed.

The story is the same as the name of usanian currency.

The dollar is the spanish currency which was for centuries the main, sanctuary, currency of the world due to sheer power of Spanish kingdom.

So, to rub off some of that sheen, what did the anglosaxons du?

They stole the name AMERICA for their "own" piece of colonies and introduced the currency called DOLLAR to confirm that now they are the rulers of the "new" world.

Yes, it is common in many countries to call only usanians "Americans".

That doesn't mean that it is actually OFFICIAL.

    Because it is NOT.

You are OFFICIALLY usanians. And we are all OFFICIALLY AMERICANS.

    And that is the FACT.

So what does this tell you when I tell you that we down south call ourselves AMERICANS too?

How much of your perception is wrongly imposed on you. For me Canadians ARE AMERICANS too.

They were born and live on the continent, so they ARE Americans.

This little issue serves to demonstrate the magnitude of wong perceptions and misconceptions of the world usanians have.

When I tell the facts that the whole world, except usanians, know, the only people complaining and raising themselves to common rudeness are the usanians.

Not all of them, mind you, but many.

    I don't have a problem with it.
I can see the potential for confusion with the country being named United States of America, but I've not met anyone confused by it before.

Here we think of ourselves as Americans meaning United States of America is our country and the larger geographic regions being North America and South America with Central America in between. I think of myself as from the North American continent and an American from the United States of America.

Do any Canadians here call themselves Americans?

    Masrapido,

you are technically correct, and I agree with you. But the common usage in North America of "American" is almost exclusively meant for citizens of the United States of America. It has become by common usage to mean US Citizens. It is factually and grammatically improper, but most "Americans" do not know proper grammar anyway.

Websters and other lexicons define the meaning of words by common usage, not correct usage. So "American" is used to mean US citizen, so like it or not, that is what most people mean when they use that word.

You will never get anywhere telling other how you think they should define words. The drift in meanings of American English is unstoppable to the point where contracts and laws become meaningless and unenforceable because no one can agree on the meaning of words. Misuse or abuse language long enough it becomes the new norm, further obfuscating meaning and understanding. We are slowly degenerating back into barbarism by a nation of self important narcissists who would rather argue nonsense than learn proper use of words. This thread is a good example of that.

How many continents are there? Are South America and North America separate continents? And Europe and Asia or Eurasia? And what about Africa, separate continent or is it Africa-Eurasia?
