Egypt, but the 38' foot boat in the youtube video I linked to is a USA vessel - so I wanted to know how the 38' was measured so as I can then do some scaling off some stills taken from the video.
Could you please explain to me which USA regulations disagree with what I'm saying? It won't be difficult, given your in-depth knowledge of USA regulations, and it would be very helpful to me. Thank you.
I beg to differ with that method of measuring length. It's a matter of having clear ideas. When you design a boat, you'll have no choice but to clarify them. In my country, which doesn't tend to innovate but simply follows what international organizations propose, the length between perpendiculars, although we know how to measure it, is no longer used. You can check, if you'd like, that some other international regulations don't use it either.
In any case, it is a serious mistake to include the swim platform or bowsprit in the LBP.
It's a huge conceptual mistake. (End of discusion).
All rules are a mess and - a mistake.
You would know that if you are familiar with more than one statutory set of rules:
You can beg all you wish, but other countries have different rules.
