    Under the reply and quick reply, you should be seeing a checkbox along the lines of:
    And if you check the box you should be good to go.

    A problem some time back was that new users were sometimes replying to very old, dormant threads. Sometimes this is exactly what was intended, but other times when someone commented "nice boat" two years after the last reply from the person building it, and the new comment brought the old thread back to the top again, it seemed very odd. So we added the checkbox on threads that have been dormant for a long while just to make sure the poster was aware (and so they wouldn't necessarily expect a quick response to their reply on threads that have gone dormant for a year or more...)
