No, Galileo was in jail and at the buring stake where he recanted. I suppose it wasn't worth getting burnt over celestial bodies movements.

No, those were two separate examples given in one statement.

Consensus does not believe Al Gore either.

There is no such thing as consensus if there are opposing sides to the argument.

True. Many socialists have turned into capitalist wannabies. And many capitalists are now running to socialists for advice how to get their sorry arses out of their own experimental mess.

The fusion is going to give us just another generation of confused, lost and generally stupid "leaders".

More pink and more "make love not war" ********. Which will eventually end with another global war. Delusions made on warm and fuzzy feelings, induced by inhalling too much of the green grass.

2010 is going to be a challenge as there are so many unknowns, contrivances, market manipulations, vested interests playing their own agendas, all helping to confuse and debase any semblance of a free and open market...

On this the beginning of the new year celebrations, I hope everyone stays safe, is loved and loves in return and is able to look through 2010 with optimism, care for others and this planet, a new sense of sufficiency and the willingness to humbly give to those who lack some daily necessities...

May everyone have a Happy New Year and lose that anger that they so willingly display here. Asking too much, but it is the festive season and this is my wish for the New year, and all the years after this one.

Indeed. 2010 begins a new decade. I intend to do my part to validate the AGW predictions for 2020 by burning some diesel to help reverse the trend measured in the last decade that does not seem to fit with the 1999 AGW predictions for that time period. :)

I also intend to petition the UN to start addressing the major contributors of greenhouse gases and sulfur in the atmosphere ... if we can cap a few volcanoes ... construct water vapor scrubbers ... capture and recycle methane to replace other natural gases ... de-carbonate beer and soda ... every little bit will help ...

    sorry ... just joking ...

    Happy 2010

Every year is the start of a new decade (period of ten years). :)

1999-2009 was the first decade of data than can be used to validate (or not) the predictions of 1999. One would hope that the credibility of any hypothesis would be related to accuracy of the predictions.

When can we expect to see a recap of measured data for 1999-2009 so we can compare it to the predictions?

1999 predictions like Y2K were off by a bit. What other 1999 predictions do we remember? How have they panned out?

    On topic for this thread:

Are current temperatures and CO2 levels as predicted in 1999? If so, what do the skeptics have to say? If not, what do the alarmists have to say?

They destroyed the data that supports the global warming claims

Additionally, the published papers that showed 20th century climate was undergoing an anomalous transformation have been thoroughly, irrevocably discredited. When these two separate events are considered together, the demise of MBH-98 and it's offspring and siblings, and the recent revelations in the 'climategate' emails, you no longer have a credible case for AGW.

If you still want to believe, that's your prerogative; just don't try to claim that your belief is based in scientific fact, because it's not.

When the climate stops changing, it will be indicative of a dead planet, so no one will even notice.
