I don't think he was arguing that anyone, including you, should completely stop using energy, and/or totally dump their lifestyles. That's like saying someone who's worried about world hunger should just stop eating.

He's arguing for more efficiency and less waste, and looking for alternatives to fossil fuels. It's hard to believe anyone would claim those are bad ideas....

I certainly didn't read anything where he was arguing for "no fossil fuels, no plastics, no electricity, and because someone brought it up, no beef."

Yes ! Thank you troy !

    This is more about management.

Australia is the driest continent on earth.
We drain our only significant river to grow a crop like cotton , a very thirsty crop indeed.

We are also one of the world`s largest producers of wheat.
A crop that does not require irrigation.

Instead of concentrating on what we do best ,our Feds. allow this to happen because of their apathy and incompetence.
    Just one example.

We also grow rice ......while we are running out of water .....now we are building desalination plants ...everywhere ....

Troy I think those are great ideas.

I will also say I dont like smog. And that cleaner emmisions do seem to have reduced smog in areas prone to them.

I dont agree that Global warming is a "fact" and I dont agree that if there is indeed global warming we know how it started nor how to deal with it.

I will tell you that I do believe in what we see in ice cores and this is not the warmest the planet has ever been. if we can accept this fact from ice cores taken in antartica, Then how can we assume we have changed the climate when the planet managed to change its own climate long before we set our dirty footprints upon this planet?

People talk about receeding glaciers as if this is proof of global warming.

15000 years ago the present glaciers extended allmost to Texas and Italy.

In 15000 years the glaciers receded 2000 miles, however in the past 100 years they have receeded 5-10 miles so it must be the human race that has caused this?????

This is the logic I see some people useing.

Useing this logic, some people want industrialised nations to pay nonindustrialised nations a TAX based on some precieved notion of CO2 greenhouse gas/global warming.

Now Im not smart, but Im smart enough to know that money is going to come from my pocket, living in the US as I do. However if you live in AU, or GB, or GER, or some of these other places your going to pay also. Thats fine, you dont mind paying, then pay.

And thats what it comes down to in my very humble opinion. You believe that we humans are causing this, then do something about it. Stop preaching to me, and trying to force your ideas on me, in the form of Global warming laws/tax's.

I have done so, 3500watts of solar power (20 panels), solar HWS, new home will effectively be energy neutral and comply with the highest energy conservation rating in Australia... We plan to capture as much rainwater as our budget permits and set up recycling of what water systems we can afford... Grow our own food - to some extent, as we are ageing... Reduce our impact as we can over time...

My boat will also be as near as energy neutral as current of-the-shelf technology and on-board space and weight limits permit...

Although the materials used may not be considered as such by purists - but at least I apply what I believe with technology that is available...

My community development projects apply what I know, in a sustainable system that will afford some improvement in the lifestyles of our Melanesian neighbours above their present subsistence level...

Easy, when one can just do it...

    Yes , Mas ,

    Nothing wrong with that.

Just saying we should all do what we can.

    Without being called a " hoaxist " , " conspirator " , " tree hugger " or any other ******** label.
