think in the west you will mostly find keel boats
you will need to go asian
    http://www.vietnamboats.org/sewnplankalbum.htm
sampans, 5 board plank boats and their delvelopments
the yamaha designed panga would be one for examaple

  6. You can contact our mould designer, Umberto Petricich from Arezzo-Italy; he designed this revised (for GRP construction) Thai Long Tail taking all dimensions from original wooden one, You can ask for the wooden original one design.
see tread on this forum on http://www.boatdesign.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8144
You can contact him at www.3dwmoulds.com
    or info@3dwmoulds.com or upetricich@yahoo.it

Otherwise You can conatct Mr. Scott Carter of Cape Pakarang Boatyard at http://www.tsunamiboatproject.com/ ;as he is involved in real traditional wooden Long Tail building in South of Thailand.

or You can contact as well this organization: http://www.projecttrang.org/default.cfm?lang=en&page=boats.cfm

    A******
you do some nice wood work on your site
    nice inlay finishes

tregosoaker hasnt been back yet to tell us what he means by "traditional Thai Long Boat"
the recent "long tail" motor fitted to the twin ended sailing fishing fleet of the last 200 odd years, maybe what he means

but i reckon there would be a rich history of craft dating back to the 2000 year old 5 plank i put up
    cheers jack
