I can't even lift the motor from the hull standing on the garage floor without using a ceiling mounted hoist. In the water I am physically incapable to lift the motor off the transom, to which it is bolted anyway. I could stand on the motor while it is afloat and have no danger of swamping the boat.

    Hi Hoyte,

Have you done running the motor in... and have you tried taking her on the plane ?

When on the plane the boat will tend to level out some and run more flat.

I am still of the opinion you will get better results if you put the motor behind one of the hulls and you sit in the other. It will make for better weight balance, the motor can be set for correct height and eliminate the water bulging up on the shaft you probably experience with it in the tunnel... ?

The motor will be broken in in 2 more hours run time.

I wouldn't be able to reach the tiller if it were behind the opposite hull from that in which I sit.

Look at Manie's boat picture a couple of posts ago.

That would be great if I wanted to go around in anti-clockwise circles. :D

Would that make time go backwards if one were aboard?

LOL, the boat won't go in circles, neither sideways like a crab. Because the motor is off-center the direction of the motor steer slightly to the center, you probably won't even notice.

Even on wide boats, the hulls want to slide forward and not sideways. Since your bottom is flat :D there will be a little more effect.

The drag created by that center mount is going to be significant... and there's going to be a lot of water sprayed much like the fire brigade does. When the motor sits behind the hull the water will if the plate is mounted in line with the hull bottom, be just right for optimal performance.

The center mount motors on cats are only for slow sailing, so the water at low speed doesn't make much of a difference.

I daresay, the longer we sit at these computers, the flatter our bottoms become. :D

    LOL!

God help us when you lose your sense of humour Hoyt!
