Dont forget a piece of mechanical equipment built in Japan would need a book of Japanese profanity such as for a tight nut would be mikuno sinatia gorgorto,-- translation being please you come loose you sexually active illegitimate child.

A BMW however would be different in words and volume in traditional Germanic volume with clenched fists on the chest.

Enough philosophy: tell us about the boat!

Decks have been added. All but one glassed. If weather holds it will be glassed today. Motor mount/crossbeams have been completed. Openings yet to be cut into bulkheads. Bulkhead edges yet to be sealed. After that, coaming, sanding and painting, fittings, titling and registration.
Photos to follow but not today. Daily rain forecast for week so progress may be slow.

What is the best way to install hull numbers on a boat like this?

you have to put the numbers (3 inch tall or greater) on both sides of the bow, and the decal on the port bow, either in front or behind the number.
You can get peel and stick numbers at home depot, lowes, maybe even wally world.

I was thinking since the boat is so small I would make the numbers real big, maybe 7 inches(18cm) high. The name "Navicula Subminuscula"(if I pick that one) will have to wrap around the transoms.

I suggest making the numbers the minimum legal size, and the NAME BIG.
Unless you want to name the boat it's registration number.

For a small boat and emergency escape, how about naming it "OMG"? :)

Several names have come to mind. CNO was already taken but Wing Nut hasn't been.

Hoyt; I think that there is some kind of rule that requires a Florida fish and game commission officer to inspect the boat prior to licensing. As if he or she would have the technical expertise to understand a brilliantly designed and executed boat that happens to differ from a mainstream type.

I am sure that you know the details. Have a fire extinguisher, throwable flotation device, PFD, anchor and rode, painter, oar or paddle, and some kind of attached plate that has a serial number, to show the officer. That ought to satisfy him. It is a sure thing that Teotwawki will be far safer than those ubiquitous little ten foot Jon boats with 28 inch bottoms and pedestal seats.

    Details, details...............

Don't forget to leave something small for them to focus on otherwise they may take it apart looking for SOMETHING to justify their job...

Be sure and leave ample spacing between each character.

    Drat.

Well, now my camera won't communicate with the computer. I have tried several times to make it happen, but to no avail. No great photos just small details that may have been interesting to a few. If I can overcome this technical glitch or do a work-around I will post them. :(

I don't know which method you use, but I stopped using the USB years ago as it was messing with my camera. I put a SD card reader in the USB socket instead, effectively it converts the card into a flash drive. I just transfer the SD card from the camera to the dock to upload pictures - much faster and less trouble.

Thanks for that bit of technical info Terry. I too have had my trials and tribulations with USB. The latest being whenever I plug in the camera the USB port generates an overload pop up. I have to mess around with different sequences of on-off with the camera to over ride it. I will definately try your route.---- Geo.
