Well, local boats use local sponsors. Makes sense to sail and promote a local event. Perhaps in future there will be an authentic trans tasmanian record run that many boats will challenge. Nothing wrong with that.

As far as nationality ...it just makes sense. The sailors on a French team should be French

You could eliminate nationality rules for all construction, hardware, technical teams. Building in New Zealand is cheap and the skill level is high. The Kiwis will always be prominent. The object of the nationality rules is to drive down costs. Cost is everything. If the cost comes down and a dozen teams challenge thats a lot of work for Kiwi suppliers.

Major sailing events die when costs spiral out of control.

Beautiful boats .... I wonder why they didn't get pic's of them sailing. Coulda been really cold, I notice they had to give the camera a jacket.

Eh, no, Dean Barker and Mike Sanderson were on board Australia. What was interesting was almost double the speed Aussies had with their special reacher - and also Vodafone's excellent windward speed with extreme mast cant.

    That's interesting.

Langman has stated he is tethering on putting in another Australian challenge. Plan B perhaps at the new Zealand tax payers expense. Pretty big dole benefit if that's the case.

A reacher. Wind prediction his for head winds.

Was Vodafone flying a reacher at the same time ?

Yes, look at the video posted by Corley. V's looked to be a similar size but was being left for dead ... that is, until they came on the wind.

Could probably be Team Aus foxing...................................
Kiwis are a ground dwelling bird & kiwis are by far the smallest living ratites and lay the largest egg in relation to their body size of any species of bird in the world & Kiwis are shy and usually nocturnal, Finally, their gizzard is weak and their caecum is long and narrow......................... according to wikipedia.......

I'm curious about the T rudders on Vodafone is there an advantage to having the fins higher on the blade? I imagine the presence of the elliptical tip would make the rudder less likely to stall and that ventilation is less of an issue with it being deeply immersed under the float? I agree that TA's reacher looks the goods seems to set better than the TVS one.

    Coastal classic 2013

Two different sails. Both cut differently. TA true reacher.

V short course proved to be more a windward sail with no head sail change which allowed tp overtake TA who did not do a head sail change by the looks.

Was it true barker and co was on board.

pity the video was not longer and that V is not racing in the Classic..
