Came across this great "science" video, of an object travelling against a water flow, powered by the same flow.

Now I need to find a video of an equivalent phenomena using conventional fins or blades.

Great apart from the fact it's complete nonsense.

Are you saying that its a fraud ?

Here is a more conventional geometric shape that behaves the same way, if this video isn't faked

Yes I'm saying it is a fraud, and so is that other one.

All these perpetual motion etc devices are frauds. You can't beat physics.

It most certainly is NOT an attempt at "perpetual motion".
The source of power is very evident.

Yes, and that power would spin it up momentarily as water is flowing over it due to its shape, but the drag of the current over the stick would carry it downstream, and within probably less than a second it would stop spinning altogether as it's velocity reached zero relative to the water. This is more preposterous than any perpetual motion machine I've ever seen. You can even see the filament right before he throws it in the water in the last video.

You can't be serious that you believe in this thing?

While not a perpetual motion machine, this is a unique use of ambient heat

Huh? Try reading what I said. You're explanation is perfectly sound, but it doesn't contradict what I said about it not being a perpetual motion fraud.

This is a worse fraud than a perpetual motion machine, it is somehow gaining a massive amount of energy. If this worked there would be creatures all over the place having evolved to take advantage if this.

I normally wouldn't even comment on something like this but I don't want people to get bamboozled by this kind of stuff. These videos are designed to take advantage of scientifically illiterate people.

"This is a worse fraud than a perpetual motion machine," SO ??

Its STILL NOT purporting to be Perpetual Motion , like I said !!!

Did your Mum never tell you how annoying you are for having to have the last word, even though you are off topic ? :)

Who cares what it's purported as? I never said it was. It's worse. Why you even post just to get responses then abuse people for not buying into your crap post. Up yours for the personal attack. What's wrong with you? And how am I off topic? Never mind. Have fun with your little machine, you should make one and get filthy rich.
