Just bought an 1979 Renken with a AQ120 and a 270 outdrive. The previous owner replaced the 4 wire lift motor for a 270 outdrive with a 2 wire motor and wired for a 280. Lift had become in-op and I assumed that relays could be the problem. I went to a NAPA store and replaced both with 30a 5 terminal relays and rewired exact as soon as I went to touch the positive battery cable ground wires started to smoke. I have double checked the ignition switch, motor, up/down switch and of course the terminal leads to the diagram. I'm stuck..........any advise
