Anyone know of a site devoted to the Supernova?

The site listed above has become just a brokerage.

    Thanks

    Corley epoxy coated

Here are a couple of photos from the net. Sailing and demounted for roof topping. The mast can be broken down into two parts as well.

    supernova

    hi, yes it's me.
was a great tri to sail til i pitch-poled it & bent the mast & strained the rigging .
    in a force 5-6 .

sold it for £400 & now bought it back for next to nothing

    Hopeless recidivist.

It seemed as if you were making progress when you sold it... and then you went and rescued it from its well deserved fate; being ground up to little bits, in some excellent recycling machine.

This boat was... eccentric, back in the early 80's, and here you are trying to find the specs, so it can maybe do the same thing, all over again!

    ;)

There were two or three Supernovas at a place where I used to keep a beachcat, they always looked too short, too heavy, too under-rigged, and overloaded the few times they were out.

What is the weight of that little monstrosity, Nigel?

    :p

    supernova or yellow submarine

sailed it at yorkshire dales sailing club .
never entered it in a race but its portsmouth yardstick was the same as a laser
we beat the living daylights out of them & kept up with vortex cats until they used their kites down wind . would of done well if we entered races
but lost its edge after pitch-poling it
just bought it the first time for fun & we enjoyed it & didn't loose any money when we sold it after 4 years.
always was looked down on by rs dinghy owners until they saw it fly .& realized its py rating
the good part was ,it went on the car roof

The Supernova is not that heavy the worst bit really is the main hull. The floats, crossbeams and mast are all light. It feels like it weighs less than a hobie 16 but I've never weighed it. I've often debated building a light tensioned ply main hull it would be interesting to see how much weight you could save.

    Blackburn,

Perhaps you should look at the picture in post #18.

Sounds like a bias might be showing.

I'll see if I can get some photos of the centerboard and some dimensions I have the boat in my storage factory at the moment while my parents are doing some renovation on their house.
