    Quite an achievement, endurance wise.

Interesting to contemplate adding a very modest sail, say 3 to 4 sm, and a lee board to his craft.

How much would that have shortened his journey?

That kayak looks like it would be very difficult to paddle and he had to make the paddles longer which would decrease the leverage to push through the water.

Also when he sleeps, he could get blown back in the direction from which he came.

I guess he used the currents as he mentioned being off the coast of Africa and I think he said he left from Portugal so he didn't go straight across.

I'm not sure that anyone has told him the reason aircraft were invented.

I don't mind how far I paddle my kayak. As long as I leave after breakfast and I'm back in time for lunch.

So he's a few thousand kilometres better guy than I am.
