    Thanks for sharing your experience.

Do you mean, "half of what the yard would charge?"

    Correct.

But a yard often goes much quicker. Having the advantage usually of owned gear, as well as facilities for the work. Time has a a cost, but it's probably not the same rate as laborers are these days.

Been a while since I've painted something 81 feet. Usually your looking at a decent set of scaffolding as well as a man lift. Your talking 3 days blasting if you have a decent size hopper. Most guys over 25 will vapor lock on day two. Then to make the expense worth it, your coating quickly. So the work while manageable, is not trivial.

Depending on layers and rust, the wet blasting seems more media efficient. They did a wide boy 58 steel boat and used about a quarter what my dry blast job on a smaller 58.

I'll try and get a Pic of a unit if ones still out in the snow.

Its a setup with a pump and tank that adds in high pressure water as well. Very popular as it needs less shelter for dust abatement, up here it can cause very rapid surface rust.

Not familiar with 302. The mixing comment sounds like one of several zinc rich 302s made by different companies. MIL-DTL-24441 doesn't have a formula 302, but Formula 159 is zinc rich.
I must have found a half dozen different epoxy primers called 302, some zinc rich some not.

MIL-DTL-23022 Type IV not zinc rich, but has good corrosion inhibitors, but I don't know how available it is for non-military. It can be used with a zinc rich.

"An alternative to dry blasting, wet blasting was developed in the 1960s to minimize fugitive dust by mixing water with the abrasive spray."
The link has descriptions of the different types of wet blasting equipment. The simplest is an add on to a pressure washer that you can buy from Amazon. It is a pressure washer nozzle that aspirates air and abrasive media to mix the abrasive into the water jet. I suspect that you might find the Amazon kit an introduction to a process that requires more sophisticated and expensive equipment to perform adequately. I won't find out until spring when the hose thaws out.

For your steel-hulled sailboat, consider Interlux InterProtect 2000E or Awlgrip 545 Epoxy Primer for corrosion resistance after sandblasting. For the exterior above the waterline, use Awlgrip Topcoat or Alexseal for a durable finish. Below the waterline, apply a barrier coat and antifouling paint like Interlux Micron 66 or Pettit Trinidad Pro. For the interior, use Rust-Oleum 9100 System Epoxy Mastic, and for moisture-prone areas, a bilge paint. In 70-100°F heat, use the manufacturer's recommended thinner to avoid curing issues. Brushing/rolling works well with self-leveling paints, while spraying offers a smoother finish if feasible.
