    Hello friends,

Is it possible to replace the PVC foam with POLYETHYLENE foam as the core to build a small boat hull?

Is there a specific resin for fiberglass laminating in polyethylene foam? What would?

    Thanks

Is there a rigid PE foam ? Can't imagine the soft variety would be any use.

    Yes, there is.

Here we have a plate 1200 x 2200 x 20 mm 35 density for hulls and 120 density for parts of greater resistance as deck and transom.
The cells are closed, has good resistance to compression, shear and do not get old, but the problem is still on the chemical compatibility of the resin with the PE.

    Thanks,

    Probably not.
This week I will receive samples and I'll do the resin and fiberglass grip tests.
From what I could see, the polyester resin is incompatible.

First post on this forum, and hope this helps:
    HDPE Foam Panels:
    Gurit
    E-Plastics

And theres a lot more if u look for HDPE (High-density polyethylene)

There's several companies that already sell it in marine grade for structural use
