Square top mains?

    SuperPiper, sounds wonderful. were you able to quantify any benifits from square topping your old sail?

    No not at all. It could be slower for all i know.

    The driver for converting to the square top was the requirement for a new mast. The square top would allow the new spar to be somewhat shorter. There was the economical incentive plus the physics of reducing the weight aloft by a couple of pounds.

    The notion of going to the square top was 95% cosmetic: it just plain looks cool.
