I am trying to estimate the cost of building a Woods Strider to see if (or when) I can swing it. I have priced out the Okoume plywood (in various thicknesses and quantities) from Boat Builder Central and it comes to over $4400 plus shipping. Example: $128 for a single sheet of 6mm.

Okoume, BS1088, Lloyds Certified - Boat Builder Central https://boatbuildercentral.com/product/okoume-bs1088-marine-plywood/

Does that seem reasonable? Are there any good sources for lower prices?

EDIT: I am in the Buffalo,NY area.

    Thank you.

    Great price.

$4400 for the entire core for a Strider is cheap in today’s terms.

You could buy exterior grade ply, but it’ll not be as good.

I used Noah's in Canada for all my okume. At the time they were significantly cheaper than anything I could find in the US.

However, this was before we decided Canada was the enemy, so it may not be as easy as it was then. But they did have a US shipping depot so might be worth taking a look. They have a reasonable website. Noah's marine I think its called.

This looks very promising! Their Ontario HQ is quite close to me, and they have a US warehouse that's even closer. Thank you!

Oops, no, they are expensive. US$159.25 for a 4x8 sheet of 6mm Okoume.

Probably subject to 10% US treasury tax. So, they have to charge it to you. Backing it out 159.25/1.1=$144.77.

But shipping from Buffalo, NY warehouse is probably cheaper, so you need to net it all out.

Phil I must have missed this when you posted. This seems to be considerably cheaper. I will check out the shipping costs.

    Thank you!
