Solar panel mount

    Ive never built a composite boarding plank. I suspect that they could be made very light.

    You might start a separate thread and ask for proposed scantlings for a foam , epoxy, eglass box section plank.

    It should be very simple to build

    This one is 2.2 meters and 4.5 kg

    Its a bit exotic and probably costs a months salary , but Im sure you could build a lightweight gangway from simple materials for a very modesy price.

    I am not worried about a solar panel falling in the water, as long a diode is used to the charger. A solar panel can be short circuited without too much problems and seawater is in the end a short circuit. If the panel has tempered, hardened glass, scratches are not easy an issue. However you are right, 2 panels will be too heavy, except if a number of small ones are placed electrical parallel, forming a narrow plank. Bert
