I see this one is doing what we (in the States) call a "daffy."

This one here has a lot of style and originality. Graceful and unique jumping pose.

 

Seems like some of the kids try things first on alpine gear and then on touring (xc) gear.

It is funny how the smallest girl can often do things the best. A brief story of a small girl...

I took the STCW-95 class some time ago for some requirements. It involved fighting fires on ships including a "flashover", much other rugged training and quite a bit of time in the swimming pool.

One of the exercises was to leap from a tall platform into the water with a life jacket on, swim over to an inverted 8-man, inverted life raft. You then had to right the life raft and board it followed by firing a flare properly so the flare did not burn the raft.



As you can imagine, many people in the class were merchant mariners and able body seamen. The STCW-95 is a professional certification, not something like a yacht owner gets. The class was full of quite a few very large men.

Many of the men could not get the 8 person liferaft to flip over and had to try again and again, struggling.

Then, along comes my wife - 5' tall (1.52 meters) and 98lbs (45 kg), maybe 24 years old at the time. She jumps off the large platform with life jacket, swims to the inverted 8 man life raft and better than anyone else in the class, just flipped it over like a swimming pool toy! ha ha ha

Later, the instructor asked her to explain to people how she did it... she said growing up she had a swimming pool and a big raft to play on like that, so she had lot of experience.

Moral of the story: Don't underestimate the small girl.

 

Easter. 5 days of rain and fog and 3 days with sun and blue sky and long ski tours.
