Can anybody recommend the SIMPLEST chine sailboat software that gives developable plates. I have tried most of the programs in the non-pro area, and none of them will do this easily. I want to input a number of sections values of a chine longkeel form with overhanging counter, and fair these three lines, then check if the form is developable. The three lines are the inner deck edge, inner chine line and the inner rabbet line assuming a constant thickness keel. None of the programs fair properly, ie can be forced to fit at the bow and stern, and "float" fair between the other points.

Simple? I don't think they exist, But DELFTSHIP does this, and Freeship, too. Rhinoceros produces developable parts, but here too you have to make corrections. to get a good result you have to know what you do, otherwise you have to use expensive CAD, and they are not simple. You can also use Blender, but you need to know how to use it to do these things.

    stevee,

you might try Carlson Hull Designer, a very simple software package that I admittedly have never liked due to its limitations, but it might fit your specific bill quite nicely.
