Simple electric kayak


Grippa, I am interested to hear whether you can positioning the over current cut out on your ESC. i.e. when you hit ground and your motor stalls, at what current is your system shut down. Are you able to set it at a particular lower current than the maximum ESC current? Or does it not shut down at all and your fuse has to blow? ElectricKajak for you also I love to hear what happens to your system? Bert
 
Recommended 50amp DC resettable circuit breaker at battery. Speed controller is rated at 80 amps. It's never happened.

O.K. thank you. I assume you work on 12 Volt. i.e. 600 watt maximum. Bert

I hope it never happens, as your MOSfets in the ESC can only handle maximum 160 - 200 Ampere for microseconds. Most circuit breakers takes a little more current to cut the current off and if your motor has stalled it is a short circuit i.e. very large current. Thus, only if your ESC can cut immediately the system at 81 Ampere off, your safe. Your circuit breaker is not going to help you much, other than a short circuit current before the ESC. Bert
