shrouded 2 hp outboard

Looking for two things for a square back canoe.

For next spring I want to pick up a low price lightweight 2 hp outboard.

Then, does a shroud help in shallow rocky water?

The short answer is yes, but what are you hoping it will do?

 

The honda 2 hp for $875 and 27 lbs has been recommended to me.

I figured if any came with a built in shroud I could be more careless. And spend less time hammering out dents in the prop

In shallow sand gravel water the skeg allows the prop to get dinged by small stones when I mess up. And I managed to graze the prop once or twice a year on bigger rocks. OTOH an old 1980 johnson lasted me 30 years with only a can of spray paint and one new prop.
