    Shipbuilding Technologies 2001: A Shipbuilding Technologies Information Exchange will be held at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi on September 5 - 6, 2001.

    This two-day event is intended to enhance the exchange of information on shipbuilding technical developments, generated by the Navy Manufacturing Technology (MANTECH) Program, through it Centers of Excellence and related Shipbuilding Initiatives, as well as the National Shipbuilding Research Program Advanced Shipbuilding Enterprise.

    Keynotes presentations will give a high level overview of naval shipbuilding programs, as seen by the Naval Sea Systems Command, the Office of Naval Research and the National Shipbuilding Research Program Executive Control Board. A panel discussion will review the progress made in the collaboration between the Navy and the shipbuilding industry in developing and implementing advanced, cost effective technologies. Technical presentations will then focus on completed and ongoing projects aimed at providing innovative technologies, materials, and tools to the shipbuilding community in the following areas: Materials, Standards & Design Technologies; Production Processes; and Business Process.

    This meeting is intended for management and technical personnel involved in shipbuilding processes and technologies. Expected participants include Department of Defense technical organizations, industry, and academia.

    A block of rooms has been reserved at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino. Reservations can be made by calling 888-383-7037 and asking for the Shipbuilding Technologies 2001 group rate of $89, or the government rate of $72. Hotel reservations should be made by August 6.
