I just finished a popular mechanics PM-38 I am now thinking of building a cuddy cabin. I would like to use it on local lakes and occasionally for offshore fishing. I was looking at a couple of glen L plans the 16' cabin skiff or the 20' outboard cabin cruiser (CS20) they are both stitch and glue. Are there other plans I should look at? Would a bigger boat be better?

I think you should try to list everything (or nearly everything) that you want this boat to be capable of doing.
Re a cuddy, would this be just for storage, or big enough for two bunks as well?
And list the constraints, like maximum length, maximum width, maximum weight, what sort of range is required, typical cruising speed - and what your maximum budget would be.

I want it to be trailerable, two bunks, portapoti ,2 passengers, 4 passengers max . Cruising speed 15-20 mph would be fine. Range enough for a day of fishing on the ocean not too far offshore. inboard or outboard . I am currently working on a friends boat, just finished a rebuild of the engine and outdrive, it seems to be about what I would want, 19' deep V cuddy cabin bayliner, two bunks, portapoti , 305 chevy IO . 40 gallon fuel tank. budget for my build 30K
I was also thinking of welded aluminum hull , I have a 4x8 cnc plasma table almost complete , tig and mig welders as well.

You want the cuddy as a shelter if a rain shower comes over ? A walkaround cuddy might be enough for that. Assuming only a couple of people are aboard, I suppose

Other possible sources of plans -

Have a look through the Devlin catalogue - the boats are all 'jumbled up', probably intentionally, to ensure that you scroll through all of them :
Devlin Design Catalog | Devlin Designing Boat Builders https://devlinboat.com/about-devlin-design-tech/devlin-design-catalog/

    And Duckworks -

Or the Selway Fisher motor boat plans between 16' - 20' (there are also plans available for larger boats) -

There is an assorted range of designs available at the Wooden Boat Store -

Some of these designs have cuddys -
