Self righting rc boat

You can buy RC bait boats, this one suppose to have quarter mile range and a remotely deploying bait release.

That looks exactly like what fallguy is describing.

When I was a kid, we called those hooks grouper grabbers because once it hooked a grouper, they didn't get away. The hooks stopped showing up and when I'd asked after them, I was told they had been banned.

I’m kinda thinking casting an anchor line and then finding a device to crawl the line.

I watched a review of rc boats and the dig is they just roll sideways in any big surf.

Between wind and surf most days at your location it will be challenging to get bait out 1000 ft unless the winds at your back , offer to pay a surfer if one walks by is a good option . From memory there were 5 bars , sharks from the 1st bar out . The jetties go 9/10th of a mile out , back in the 80s I watched a man pull up a large groper up on the inside of the pass no more that 100 yards on the jetties . I don't know if he got him out of the water , he was walking him down when I left , my last trip to mustang island . Jetties are slippery and easy to loose tackle , long walk off with a large fish .

I was wading and casting as far as I could.

good payoff 20 pounder
