    Position Summary:
    The US Coast Guard seeks to fill a Naval Architect position within the Engineering Logistics Center Naval Architect Branch located in Baltimore, MD. The incumbent of this position serves as a naval architecture specialist and consultant in performing critical aspects and projects of the Branch. These functions are associated with the construction, modernization, overhaul, conversion, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of vessels.

    The incumbent performs the following duties:
    - Conducts conceptual and preliminary design studies for proposed vessels based on operational requirements documents;
    - Analyzes, evaluates and develops naval architecture design plans, hydrostatics, lines and offsets, analyses of ship stability, resistance and propulsion, propeller selection, test and trial data, specifications, reports and test data associated with naval architecture;
    - Performs technical review of contractor-prepared designs and specifications;
    - Determines methods and procedures appropriate for testing naval architecture installations and performs or directs performance of the tests;
    - Prepares reports and design histories documenting all significant steps in the design process including statements of all criteria applied;
    - Conducts advance structural analysis; and,
    - Conducts vibration analysis;
