Sealant for plain plywood

    Use some styrofoam and form blocks for the area to receive them then sheath them in 3 layers of wire mesh and coat with a cement plaster. At 3 layers of mesh the concrete weighs 3lbs per sqft equal to the weight of 3/4 inch ply.

    You don't really have to close off the bottom of the box if you are filling it with foam, unless you have to pull it out of the water for Winter, so a simple 2 x 4 frame around the sheet of insulation will be sufficient protection.
