    SolomonGrundy I'm not crazy...

    Hi all, I'm attempting to develop a 2 bladed prop for my HPV. I have PropSim but I don't know what all the input parameters mean...what does " # of lines" and " Hub/Diameter Ratio" mean?
    I sure could use some help from someone who has used the program before...I'm just a lowley welder.

    Has anyone even heard of PropSim?

    Hub/diameter ratio is the hub diameter of the propeller taken at his mean length divided to the propeller diameter.

    What is PropSim?

    It is a computer program for determining propshape with a given set of parameters.

    All kind of propellers? I mean semisubmerged, supercavitating, transcavitating, conventiional, etc.....

    Only conventional props as far as I know.

    "# of lines" is how many output lines the program gives.

    Looks like a pretty basic program based upon Pooles work, which is a good place to start. However using ideal disk theory will not produce the absolute most efficient prop, as it ignores tip and root effects.

    I wonder how much of an impact the root & tip effects will have on the prop considering the ultra low rpm & horsepower...

    They can reduce efficency 5-15%, more if you have more than two blades.

    That leaves 35-45 % loss in efficiency due to the rest of the system (cutlass bearing, bevel gear, sprocket hub and chain) to be within our nominal parameters...unless there's something I'm missing.
