    DogCavalry I aim to misbehave.

I'm glad I didn't know. I'd have been worried about you. Finding out, after you're back is much less nerve wracking.

    Welcome back Fallguy!
Glad to see that you have survived the pneumonia (or even possibly that hidden Corona scourge).

there is nearly zero testing here in Minnesota; the confirmed cases are so low; the reported death rate is 5%+

I asked for testing twice and was told to call around and see if I could find a hospital willing to test me.

If any of you get the dreaded monster; drink about 100 ounces of fluid per day and if you get pneumonia lay on your belly or the side that produces anything. I was able to clear the pneumonia in 2-4 days. I honestly feel like I have some ptsd from coughing so violently.

Worst part is if it wasn't Covid19; Covid19 would likely kill me.

    More importantly.

What is next for this build?

Do you have all the chine and transom edges radiused? You'll need minimum 1/4" radiuses for glass to lay. I prefer 3/8".

Any glue humps must be flattened off by scraping or sanding.

Then you can look at the dimensions and plan glass.

If you feel too broke right now to glass. I would get some epoxy and encapsulate the hull. This would prevent any spring dampness from taking your wood dimensions out and it will help prevent outgassing and drysuck later. It is an extra step, but a wise one if you don't plan to glass for a bit. The only downside is you will have to sand the whole boat with 40-60 grit. Usually this wetcoat is applied an hour before you wetout and roll off.

I really think you need to roll here. 17oz is a bit difficult to tops down wetout and you'll be sad you tried.

When you buy glass; see if they will send you 3-4 cardboard roll off tubes...54" minimum long. That way, you roll off the main roll and roll back onto the rolloff tube and get some sharpies and write where it all goes. Then you use a paint roller and wetout the substrate and roll out the glass and consolidate.

Anyhow, an extra step, but an epoxy coating isn't bad if you have to wait to buy supplies.

    BlueBell "Whatever..."

I thought your plan was for "fastenerless joinery" meaning the interior
glassing and filleting was holding the boat together.
This is a big change to go to stringers instead, no?
How are you going to seal the interior hull, epoxy?
I strongly think you should stick to the plan, no stringers.
OR, light stringers, light glass combo.

I totally agree, Fallguy. I'm pretty sure I'll be doing a coat of epoxy just to stabilize the wood. I might be able to get a loan, because I have a couple good cosigners, but if not, that's a lot of work to lose in changes of humidity.
And thanks for the numbers. ⅜ inches radius? Pure gold.

Good concrete advice about positioning. I got pneumonia a year ago from working with red cedar: I'm pretty allergic to the stuff. Coughing it out of your chest is the only way to get rid of it.

I was mulling over the notion of interior framing, Bluebell, but I think I'll stick with the original plan. So epoxy and glass, inside and out.

A shame we haven't heard more from the bloke out here (Australia) who had the glass one with the 90 hp straight six Merc, recently.

That seems bad, that you were not able to be tested readily.

My GF works in genomics, does DNA testing daily. The issue, she tells me, is that there's a terrible shortage of the reagents to do the test. Those reagents are consumed, and normal worldwide use is usually pretty low. Testing everybody is impossible. It will be a while before the supply of reagents is increased enough to match new demand.

Well, folks get pneumonia. I got it last year from working with red cedar all day for 2 weeks. Hopefully you won't get COVID-19.
