Cleats in place to support front and back edges of cockpit sole, and a better view of freeing port.

Right. So here's a step I forgot: contact Transport Canada, get a capacity plate.

I saw a Nordhaven that had large side holes to shed water, placed on the walk around to drain water from the side decks and they had put swinging doors on the holes, the doors let water out, but swing closed to keep outside water from coming in, all passively, the doors work by themselves. On video, guy pushed it open with his foot, then pulled foot back and they shut. I dont think it was spring shut, just gravity, hard to say without being there.

Epoxied down. And a good view into the gutter.

Make sure none of your endgrains of plywood are exposed and unglassed. They will blow up on you. Epoxy coating is never enough.

It is interesting how adhesives used with cloths seal so well. Years ago they would use cotton canvas and paint as an adhesive. But of course paints don't endure the ages and epoxies rot in the sun's uv rays.

The first boat I built was a 42' Herreshof double ended ketch. Lovely boat. I decked her with white pine, planked with red spruce. And of course, the deck had a layer of canvas in white lead paint, because that's what Herreshof would have wanted.

Now it's glass and epoxy. I doubt Herreshof would have been impressed. He hated plywood.

Whoa. I guess if any of that fabric gets out of line DC reaches for the convincer and the stuff falls right down.

I'm game. What is the sledgehammer doing on a boat build? Hoping not beating in the bulkheads!
