    Is that a stabilised monohull or a trimaran?

    Is there any guide as to what ratio between ama displacement and hull displacement ( or whatever criteria is used) when one becomes the other?

    Sleek boat though..

    I could well imagine that this concept is better than Dashew and the skinny mono with stabilizers
    To me the concept could be built easier and cheaper than Dashew because the hydraulic stabilizers is extra things to "worry" about.

    I would like to think that this "trimaran" concept could be VERY fuel efficient
    BUT what worries me is what effect will windage have on overall longterm fuel consumption. Maybe this high tri will loose out long term.

    Just thinking out loud :confused:

    sorry guys now that I have read more, this thing will NEVER have the fuel efficiency of a Dashew

    adastra is a big boat and not a racer, its also 7.5 meter longer than cable & wireless witch did 24500 nautical miles in 74 days 20 hours, spending some 62 days at sea.
    The average speed achieved was 16.5 knots and the average fuel consumption about 1 mpg (4.5 litres/nm)

    For a big boat it does not have a lot of deck space. Looks like some thing out of Star Trek. Should be efficient though if light weight. Hard to make this design strong and light without spending several fortunes.

    Well at (roughly) $152.00 a pound she sets some kind of record..........but it isn't for efficiency.......

    its quite efficient considering its ~65tonne displacement and 120L/h @ 17kts... aint so bad...

    Thats actually pretty good by superyacht standards believe it or not. Like to check out real fuel consumption look at this!
