    Hello all,

Please see video below which is a demonstration video of a new piece of software ive created named Scantling & Stability.

The program is in accordance with ISO 12215-5, 12217-1,2,3 for the main part of the program which are the scantling and stability calculators. The other calculators within the program are also in accordance with ISO standards.

Please let me know what you think of it, any suggestions or comments either here or on youtube.

The program will be going out for professional testing now by one or two companies, it has been rigerously tested by myself and some others already to confirm everything is working and accuracy is correct for all calculations, once that's done the program will be offered for sale with the professional reviews alongside rather than offering demonstrator copies which may be prone to piracy.

    Thanks

I recommend you piece your videos a bit.

While not your customer, I was curious, but I assume the software file management works.

It would be much more fun to watch you do a simple craft.

For me, I’d like to use the software to review my hulls. I believe my skins are light according to another engineer. But I don’t know how light, etc.

Much respect, it sounds like a good tool. I made it through one cup of coffee and gave up.

Thanks for the reply, yes its quite a long video for the first one, but i thought i best cover everything. I could maybe make a series of shorter ones focusing on each part also.

You've done a tremendous amount of work, and it's very well presented. I hope professionals find it a useful tool that allows them to easily and quickly optimize their designs.
Regarding scantlings calculations, I understand the software uses the Simplified Method. Is that correct?
    Thank you.

Thankyou for that reply, much appreciated, it has been a lot of work and research and reading endlessly to make certain I got it not only correct technically which was the main thing, but make it an easy and well flowing program to use with as simple and user friendly UI and workflow that i could make but its been a big challenge and its also a fine balance. 8 months of all of my spare time basically but has been a great learning experience and worth it.

For the scantling assessment, yes you are correct the simplified method is whats used for the calculations.

Many thanks for your comments and hope you are well.

Not sure if anyone is still following this post, but as a quick update, after the testing of the program and some thinking on it, I have decided to convert the program into a WebApp instead of an installable program, this will be subscription based with free trials availale also. There are several reasons I have decided to change it including future updates when standards are updated will be deployed online easier than having to send out updated copies of the program, and i can also make changes to the program live so to speak, currently planning to updgrade the program to use class standards for ships as well as the current ISO standards which will make it more useful for larger design offices working on larger vessels, also the initial cost to users will be a lot less than purchasing a copy of the program outright.
I will create a new post in the coming weeks when the program is live online.
    Thanks.
