Lake trials
Had a good sail. Installed jib rail tracks on the stern cross beam too use for the 150 genoa.
Drifted down wind most of the day. I only had an hour of 5 mph winds before I had to motor 5 miles back to the ramp.
It will sail up wind. Not sure yet on tack angle. At least 30 degrees. It will also do a complete tack turn into the wind. With the 150 genoa. The genoa gets lowered as the rudders go hard over. The inner sail is self tacking. The genoa will not whip when half lowered on the head stay. It has to be pulled over the cabin manually however.
The helm seems to be well balanced. With the single Lee board.

With the parallel slot being about 4 feet. It seams to leave the fore sail and the inner sail in their own wind stream. Rather than the both sails forming a single air foil. I have about 5 different sail configurations and still have some rigging points to set up.
I would like to try two similar size stay sails just too see how boat speed is effected. Like in the picture taken last summer. They were both loose footed and had poor stay tension. With the mast with out a back stay.

I can see now it is a trimaran. Just didn't notice that big hull in the center on the other forum discussion.

Nondestructive testing
Well noticed fatigue cracks in my outrigger hinges. 30 minutes to grind out and reweld. Repair should last the the rest of the season. Last year the Port side out rigger free fell and got shock loaded. I had to repair the stern hinge last year.
Then motoring back to the boat ramp the, lower mast stay turnbuckle vibrated itself off and is on the bottom of the lake. Lost a fender bolt on the trailer ride home.
Had a great time sailing at least, and dry dock services are free in the back yard.

15 mph winds gusting too 25
Top sustained speed was 5.5 mph in 15 mph winds. Had an outrigger flying in a strong gust for about 30 seconds. GPS showed 7.9 mph. The mast was bending too much during the gusts ,I spent most of the sail watching the top of the mast.
I was in rough chop on a broad reach with 240 sqft of sail area. More of a stress test too see if I could break something. As fall is setting in and I will have another winter to fix anything.
I definitely need to sew a smaller head sail that can auto tack. The 150 Genoa is a pita in 20 mph.
