Lots of people have a low tolerance for boredom. Few people have the absence of common sense and self-preservation exhibited by danger seeking individuals.

You really need to be in the Southern Ocean. There are much better storms and the largest waves ever measured on the planet. The Great Australian Bight is really good at this time of year. There might be an unused 10 foot sail boat boat in Cape Town that we know of. But I'd recommend 60 feet as the minimum.

I disagree. It is the difference between armchair explorers and those of us who get up and go take a look.

That's not who we are talking about here. There are those who get up and go take a look to see if there is a bear in that cave, and then there are those who know there's a bear in that cave but go get eaten anyway. But they are useful to the species, sometimes there wasn't really a bear in there and they are easy to convince to go charge and kill the other tribe's idiots.

I think it is what we are talking about. Those who daydream and talk about doing things, and those who do. If it was up to the armchair daydreamers, they would be endless arguments about whether there is a bear in the cave, and about what defines what a bear is, and what does is means.

There are those who do, and then there are those who piss their lives away doing stupid stuff.

The armchair daydreamers are irrelevant. They mean nothing, even though the Internet, government, and academia are infested with them.
Are you implying that the OP is counted in their number?

"go take a look" is irrelevant, the world is full of curious people who are going to take a look but we need something more, initiative, creativity, action, ... and a lot of common sense.

No. The test is in the doing. There is nothing wrong is asking questions to consider how to better do something. I think you are possibly an armchair warrior.

Armchair warriors tend to troll on the internet too.

Yesssss, of course, I am. I like armchairs, and I always prefer to act than to go, just, to take a look. Taking a look for itself is not worth for anything, usually annoying those who want to work. Now, observe, analyze the situation with criteria and, therefore, detect the real problem that exists, is essential for someone who wants to solve things, not take a look.
That is acting, which is what I defend.

I imagine that people caught in perilous circumstances, have their discomfort amplified by the thought they are only in that situation, through their own sheer stupidity. If they are even half-smart, reflection on that should preclude a repeat performance.
