    Stephen,

Take a look at this plan.

    http://www.pachoud.co.nz/current projects/danny sunkel's - tasman row boat

It's been funded by sponsorship and designed with safety in mind and plans to break the exisiting record rowing across the Tasman sea and also do it twice. It's already been done twice - no Coast guard was involved.

The Tasman sea is one on the most challenging and dangerous sea their is. The South Pacific ocean is a breeze compared to the Tasman sea.

The late Sir peter blake commented the worst storm he had ever encountered was the tasman sea. His friend Paul whiting - yacht designer and boat builder went down in the same storm never to be seen again returning from hobart.

    Get real.

    No sails or motor either.

Took approx 4 months the existing record.

So you insult us and expect to get free advice? If you hate the USA so much straddle a log, push it into the ocean and trust your god.

ocean cruiser: awesome! weld a mast on it and the is almost exactly what was looking for, including the side floats. back to basic questions: are there any sail boats commercially available that are designed for efficiency, that is no kitchenette etc.? also with most sail boat designs seen available in this area the inside is entirely hollow with a door seems very likely to sink if flipped over, is this the case and if so are there other designs? also wondered if there were any designs for a rowable sail boat. either commercially available or thoughts about constructing on own, metal possibly fiberglass other material?
There is only one God, saw a nice log the other day actually thought about it. had moss on it wondered if could eat it along the way. oars and a mast would have helped.
gonzo: if someone insults you for being part of a group <insult removed> and you do not like it you should probably disassociate from them.
hoytedow: qiblih. would go that way if physically able.

If we are evil why do ask us for advice and not one of the worshipers of your god. There are gods galore, and if you want to choose that one, it is fine by me. However, hypocrisy is a sin in your religion, so if you sink and drown in this endeavor, you will dry up fast where you are going ;)

You come seeking wisdom from the infidels to cross oceans with little money?

    You shall receive -

Go down to the local hardware store and buy lots of sheets of white styrofoam, and lots of water soluble white carpenters glue.

Arrange the blocks on a boat shape, and cover with three layers of newspaper attached with the carpenters glue, and allow to dry.

Paint on lots of water based acrylic paint in bright colours, launch the boat with you and all your valuables on board when there is strong offshore breeze.

Success is assured - but not necessarily yours.

about ten years ago, one of your kind named Alberto, went into the jungle at Panama and found a suitable log. He hollowed it out with fire and axe then sailed it clear across the north pacific before landing somewhere in the Phillipines. You are not alone in your quest for something. It is possible to live the life of a parasite and sponge off others.

As a former lurker and now new member here, I'm impressed with the patience and generosity that many of you demonstrate, time and time again.

Rather than insult and ridicule those with unfortunate issues, I have come across several examples of kindness and civility throughout this nice forum. Goodness knows that many of us can come up with excuses for bad attitudes and poor behavior towards others and yet, many choose to do otherwise.

Thank you and congratulations on creating a great, ongoing community forum as well as tremendous resource for those of us seeking helpful information and knowledge on all things nautical.

    :)

    Wholly S41T,
In 6 posts Aaaaron has achieved a record NEGATIVE REP of 13 points - that is he has received 23 negative points... Did all the negative rep awarders sign their "awards"?

Arrogance on your part, as to whose god you worship is not advisable in an international forum - especially since you imply to desire to head EAST? - - You missed at least 4 major dieties on the W pacific... All of whom have significant "power", and my webname is one, with a couple of million followers...

I can stand arrogance if it is based on logic - but to brand one country ie. Americans as totally bad, ( he is ignoring the possible 3 million Muslims
    http://www.religioustolerance.org/isl_numb.htm

in America (who by his definition are 'on the right path' )- .

I am sure there are a number of countries with more bad people in them than the US.
