Sage Marine - rig advice?

    I think we're talking about different types of gust response - I was talking heeling and you were talking acceleration. I completely agree with your point about multis' fast acceleration.

    I used to watch Taipan and Tornado mains and look at their gust response; they were so flat that even a tiny bit of mast bend (esp on the Taipan which has a very fat wing for a 100kg boat) had a significant effect. The same amount of bend on a deeper dinghy main would do little. But of course the cats had so much power they didn't need the same sort of gust response, and their apparent was so high that the extra true wind in a gust had much less effect.
